What is Deep Log Analysis?
Deep log analysis is a methodology that helps librarians, publishers and other suppliers of web-based content to a better understanding of how consumers actually use heir services. By analysing raw transactional server-side logs, CIBER is able to develop a series of user metrics that describe how users interact with the system: for example, session length, number of content or other pages viewed, whether or not an internal search engine was used, which titles and subjects were viewed and when an access took place. This data reflects what people actually do online and not what they think they did or what they think they ought to say to a researcher. The data collected from DLA is combined with qualitative user survey and focus group data to provide a real understanding of why users behave in the ways they do.
