E-books and E-content, UCL
The e-books and e-content event, hosted by UCL’s Centre for Publishing had a number of speakers from different perspectives of the e-book industry and was well attended.
The full programme is available at http://www.ucl.ac.uk/slais/e-books.
I was invited to speak about the UK academic vision for e-books and the steps JISC Collections is taking to realise the vision. My presentation and the word document to accompany my presentation is available below.
The UK Academic Vision for E-books

Throughout the day, the same themes kept emerging - e-books standards, discoverability, the google generation, business models and technology - all of which are included in the e-books vision. To me, this clearly shows that the whole world is grappling with the transition to e-books and that a further period of experimentation and sharing of knowledge is required before e-books become fully integrated into teaching, learning and research
UKSG Conference 2007
A little late, but the UKSG conference was fantastic this year and e-books was one of the hot topics. There were several useful seminars and some excellent presentations on e-books.
To find out more see the UKSG Conference pages where the conference blog and presentations are available
If you would like a 5 minute presentation (and it really is only 5 minutes) to use to promote awareness of the national e-book observatory project within your organisation please feel free to use the one I did at UKSG.
